Google Meet Tips
To join the Google Meet lesson, you’ll need the link I send to you via email. (It is similar to Zoom.) You may be prompted to "download the app" before joining, but you may open the link in a web browser as well.
In the settings there is a toggle called Studio Sound - we'll turn that off for best quality.
Using Headphones and/or a microphone elevates sound quality but is not required. Some people prefer not to sing with headphones on.
The most important thing is a stable internet connection. If you experience interruptions: try connecting fewer devices to your wifi, close unused windows and programs running on your device, or use an ethernet cable if available.
If you sing along with a backing track or karaoke track you'll have to play it on a separate device in order for both of us to hear the track.
In Google Meet I turn on Gemini to take notes and summarize the lesson for us - the meeting will ask you for your approval so you can decline if you prefer to take your own notes. Our lesson notes are not used to train AI in Google Workspace.
You may request a recording of the lesson or any exercises at any time. It's an easy button to press and it's yours for practice. I don't share videos of students, but you may share the videos of our lesson if you wish.
Rare occasions…
I always have one eyeball on my email in case you run into any issues! I will work with you to remedy any of the following interruptions:
Internet outages, power outages, and Google outages
Emergencies - if you are dealing with an emergency, your safety and health are paramount. I will understand if you need to reschedule last minute due to a medical emergency or extenuating circumstances.
Time Zone issues: be sure to let me know your timezone. It helps to tell me your city, since that is a bit more specific. I am on New Orleans time. (Central Time.) Our daylight savings times are not all on the same day, it helps to be aware of time changes in your city.
Any issues on my end are rare and I avoid interruptions at all costs. Occasionally I will reschedule due to professional film work or holidays, but I respect your time and schedule and aim to give you as much notice as I can. In the event I need to reschedule your lesson it will never be an additional cost to you.
